Committee Descriptions

Committee volunteer opportunities include:

Awards
Solicit, accept, and generate nominations for local, regional, and national awards. Develop and monitor award criteria and deadlines. Prepare and submit award forms and order local awards. Plan the annual awards luncheon, usually held in May. [ask the board] [top]

Corporate Development & Corporate Rentention
Retain existing corporate partners (CP) and recruit prospective ones. Ensure that NAWBO D/FW and its CPs maximize their benefits to each other. Plan and participate in the annual "CP Connections Luncheon and Trade Show" usually held in March, plus other periodic CP special networking events. Volunteers for these tasks are divided into two (2) committees, one each for Development and Retention. [ask the board] [top]

Education
Develop educational materials and programming by producing a guide to local WBE educational events, coordinating white papers from each monthly meeting, and planning and coordinating NAWBO U seminars and workshops. [ask the board] [top]

Finance
Assist in analyzing chapter finances, developing financial goals, and creating budgets. Work with other committees on fundraising and money management. [ask the board] [top]

Marketing/PR
Looking for an active and exciting committee? NAWBO D/FW Marketing Committee is just the group for you! Work alongside energetic professional communicators in the PR, writing, marketing, graphic design, promotional product, Web/Internet, printing, or photography industries. Non-professionals are welcome! Even if you're a novice designer or amateur photographer, we need you! Anyone interested in working on newsletter, Website, marketing materials, direct mail, promotional products, trade shows, event promotion, media relations, and more is welcome. If you can manage projects and provide feedback/ideas, please join us to make lasting relationships and make a difference in promoting NAWBO D/FW. [ask the board] [top]

Membership
Recruit prospective members, welcome new members, and encourage member participation. Generate monthly newsletter profiles on new and active members. Plan any membership recruitment events and new member orientations. [ask the board] [top]

Member Services/Wise Council
Generate ideas and programs to encourage member retention and add value to NAWBO D/FW membership. Develop and produce an annual local printed membership directory. Oversee Wise Council Groups to recruit members; launch new groups; coordinate the placement of new members according to geographic location, meeting dates/times, and group demographics; ensure diversity within groups; and suggest topics of discussion. Programs
Plan and execute the yearly program schedule, select monthly program topics, arrange for speakers, create program agenda for monthly meetings, and plan special programs. Write monthly articles for newsletter, both promoting upcoming programs and recapping past programs. Volunteers on this committee can specialize in the overall planning of the chapter's programs OR on planning programs for each NAWBO D/FW Council: Collin/Denton County, North Dallas, Southern Area, or Tarrant County. Public Policy
Provide information to members about legislative and governmental issues that affect their businesses and their personal lives. Plan the annual public affairs luncheon, usually held in January. Coordinate public policy advocacy activities with NAWBO National and any local public advocacy action. [ask the board] [top]

Outreach
Collaborate with other committees and community organizations to recruit, involve, and retain members who reflect a rich diversity in ethnicity, size, and type of business, etc. Coordinate alliances with other local organizations and associations as appropriate for NAWBO D/FW. Recommend and organize NAWBO D/FW's support of nonprofit causes. [ask the board] [top]
